F.I.R.S.T. Step Course (Firearm Instruction,
Responsibility and Safety Training)
This class is designed mainly for first time, new or prospective pistol
owners. It also is a good introductory class for youth who may be interested
in getting into pistol shooting sports.
This class covers four main areas:
-Introduction to Pistol Safety, Parts, Operations
-Introduction to Ammunition and Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting
-Introduction to Pistol Cleaning, Storage, Training Opportunities
-Introduction To Pistol Shooting (Live fire)
Depending upon class size, the class usually takes about 4 hours+, including
the live fire exercise. Fees include all booklets which are mandatory for each
individual taking the course. You DO NOT have to own a firearm to take this
course and we can/will provide one for students to use. We also supply all
ammunition, eye and ear protection for use during the live fire exercise.
LOCATION: Class will be held at the Durham County Wildlife Club which
is located just minutes from I-40 in Morrisville, and just off on Davis Drive
and easily accessible from Cary, Apex, Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, etc.
WHAT TO BRING: Pistol (if you own one), Ammunition for your pistol
(leave ALL ammunition in your car during all class activities), eye and ear
protection if you have it, paper and pens for note taking. A light snack if
desired (drink machine is available at DCWC).
FEES: $40/person
NO WALK-INS…you must be pre-registered for this class as each
attendee must have a learning/booklet package.
All class attendees receive a discount coupon good for use on our personalized
firearms training sessions. These personalized sessions can be for individual
(1 on1) training, or small group. Limit one coupon per session.

Whether you are brand new to shooting, a novice, or simply looking to improve your skills, our goal is to help you have a safe, enjoyable, learning experience.

We use our years of shooting experience and our continual training to
help those who are looking to gain experience in handling firearms and/or to
become better shooters. Our objective is to make this an enjoyable
experience for our students so that you will have the desire to learn more and
become more proficient in your firearm skills.

One of the greatest thrills for us is to take a new or novice shooter and
by the end of a few hours, see this person become amazed in the shooting skills
they actually possess. We have worked with all ages from youth, to college
students, to adults. We have worked with individuals with skills ranging from those who
have never shot before, to those looking to improve their abilities. We
look forward to working with you to help you learn, and enjoy the shooting
sports.
WHAT WE OFFER:
-We can offer either individual or small group lessons.
-Our lessons are held locally (just minutes off I-40) convenient to Cary,
Raleigh, Chapel Hill.
-We offer either NRA specific courses or customized courses that are focused to
better meet your individual needs.
-We try to work with your schedule and hold classes when you want.
-We can provide as much equipment as needed. This is especially
important to our new shooters in that we can allow you to try several different firearms,
We also can
provide ammunition and safety equipment (eye and ear wear) as needed.

what your personal objectives are and we'll identify what we feel would be the
best course to help you achieve these goals.

The 50 meter target to the left is from one of our rifle students, a thirteen year old young lady. We worked with this student over a 6 month period, for about two hours every other week. By the end of this time, our student had reached the Distinguished Expert level and was able to shoot groups as shown on the target. This shows what determination, practice, and a little bit of our experience can help you accomplish. We can't promise that every person we work with can become a Distinguished Expert, but if you have the desire, we'll work with you to make you a better, safer, smarter shooter. |

Gun Reviews !!! Although every person has different taste for different firearms (form, fit, function), we'll start reviewing several different firearms and give you our personal thoughts about them. We provide you with what we like, dislike, and general overview. Just our feelings so don't take it personally.
CONCEALED CARRY COURSES: Based upon what we have seen and experiences around new and beginning shooters, as well as those who claim to have "some experience" we decided to not offer concealed carry courses. Instead we decided to align our business with people who wanted to focus their training on firearm safety, developing good firearm skills, and build better shooting skills. We strongly recommend you work on these types of skills prior to taking any concealed carry course.
ALSO...
For safety reasons we do not allow bystanders or non-shooters to attend
during our classes. The exception to this is that any youth taking our lesson, we
encourage parents to attend.
